USP Lumber Connectors Changes Name to Meet Market Growth
An Expanding Product Line and a Growing Customer Need Leads to Name Change

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (March 24, 2003) - USP Lumber Connectors, a Gibraltar Company (Nasdaq: ROCK) announced today that its' name will change to USP Structural Connectors effective immediately.

Over the last few years, USP Structural Connectors has witnessed growth in several areas of the industry, including Commercial, Residential and Retail markets. As a result, product line offerings have expanded to meet the growing needs of existing and potential customer bases.

"Our core business has always been steel lumber connectors, but with the demands being placed from customers outside of our core business, it made sense to remove the lumber from our name and replace it with structural to address the needs of all structural construction projects currently being designed," said Robert Brunson, President of USP Structural Connectors. "In addition, building codes continue to become more stringent. Thus, we want to satisfy all of the needs of our customer base by expanding our product offerings."

Today, USP Structural Connectors not only manufactures lumber connectors, but also offers an expanding product offering including an extensive line for the commercial industry as well as Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs).

USP Structural Connectors success began in 1954 with a company called KANT-SAG. After many years of designing different types of connectors for the industry, Silver Metals was acquired to expand KANT-SAG's product offerings to the increasing customer base. In the mid-1990's, the company name changed from KANT-SAG to USP Lumber Connectors.

By combining very good regional companies, USP Structural Connectors has created a national organization with technically proficient experts fulfilling the needs of industry professionals. As a result, the company currently has over 4,000 industry demanded items in its' product mix. In addition, a national distribution program has been created with warehouses located in Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Minneapolis, MN; Los Angeles, CA; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; and Tampa, FL.

In 1998, Gibraltar Steel of Buffalo, NY, acquired the growing company. Gibraltar is one of North America's leading metal processors, a manufacturer of more than 5,000 steel and other metal products, and North America's second-largest commercial heat treater. The Company serves approximately 10,000 customers in a variety of industries in all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. It has approximately 3,400 employees and operates 54 facilities in 20 states, Canada, and Mexico.
